Your Bio

This is my first submission. I have been taking photographs for years and this selection represents old and new. Some (the canoes and the boathouse at Canoe Lake, Algonquin Park Ontario) were scanned from prints taken originally with Nikon F90 on Kodak film. Others were more recent, using a Canon 10D and Canon 17-40 F4 L lens. Recently I have made the switch to Nikon, using the D80 or D 300 with the 18-200mm VR Nikor. I have added some recent shots from Ireland and Italy. In real life I am a pediatrician, specializing in hormone stuff.

Italy 07 : These shots were taken In Italy - Rome, Florence, Sienna, Chianti, Greve - in 2007. The indoor images were hand-held with a Nikon D80, since tripods and flashes were not permitted. I used the 18-200 VR Nikor lens, with ISO between 400 and 800 and was quite pleased with the sharpness, considering the light conditions. The first picture, top left, is the dome at St Peter's in Rome and the second is a close up of the cupola. Some idea of scale can be estimated from the letters around the circumference which are ~ 6 ' (2 metres) in length.

Sumac and Grass : These are all from around Toronto. The Sumac and flower close-ups were taken with a Nikon D300 and the 105 mm macro lens this Fall. The others are from past and present, using a Canon 10D, or scanned from previous film images taken with a Nikon F90.
